The Rain of Heaven – Within the context of this series ‘The Rain of Heaven’ should be differentiated from the ‘Rain from Heaven’. Rain from heaven should be understood as the natural drops of water that falls from the sky. However, the ‘Rain of Heaven’ is discussed in this series as a spiritual metaphor used by God in the Bible to depict the words that proceed from His mouth. Isaiah 55:10-11 spells this out. It says: “The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.
This series is sequel to the series on the ‘Glory of Christ in the Market’, in which we learnt that we are to function in the global marketplace only by the word of God spoken to us. This series shows clearly how to do this. It is the operating model of Jesus Christ and by extension the modus operandi by which believers in Jesus Christ are to prosper in the global economy.
The purpose of this series is to teach people to be totally dependent on God and His word for their productivity in the market. As the rain of heaven that comes upon the land of promise, the proceeding word of God will come upon the believer who trusts in God for his/her productivity and income. Before long the believer becomes wealthy as he/she acts on the instructions they have received from God. They lend to people, and they don’t borrow.
