Understanding God’s Word – According to Wikipedia, deception is an act or statement that misleads, hides the truth, or promotes a belief, concept, or idea that is not true. It is often done for personal gain or advantage. Our world is full of deceptions, and the deception of people on a large scale is as old as human history. Furthermore, the advent of technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) has given rise to huge concerns as regards its potential misuse to make deceptions even more deadly and widespread.
Life is a challenging adventure to navigate. You can succeed spectacularly or fail at it colossally. The Bible insinuates that those who fail at life are victims of deceptions. It further informs us that God gives us His word as a GPS to help us make a success of life. You will enjoy a good life if you are guided by the Scriptures. You will make a mess of it if you disregard the Scriptures (Joshua 1:8, Isaiah 1:19-20). Deceptions come from human beings (Ephesians 4:14) and demon spirits (1 Timothy 4:1). But the Scriptures were inspired by God (2 Timothy 3:16-17). This makes the Bible deception-free and trustworthy. After all, it is impossible for God to lie (Hebrews 6:18).
Our individual abilities to understand the Scriptures then becomes critical. This is because they can sometimes appear to be complex, unclear, boring, or irrelevant to our present situation. They can also be misapplied or misinterpreted. The objective of this series is to make the word of God plain to people. It provides a framework within which we can view and always understand the Scriptures. Understanding the word of God will help us avoid the deceptions propagated by demon spirits and human beings. And prevent us from making a shipwreck of our lives.
