Return to the Paradise of God – The Cambridge Dictionary defines ‘paradise’ as a place or condition of great happiness where everything is exactly as you would like it to be. It is also stated to mean ‘heaven’ or the ‘Garden of Eden’ – the home of Adam and Eve, the first couple on earth.
The human race once lived in paradise, based on the definitions above. Among other things, it was a place of economic and financial security for Adam and Eve. It was their home, and its boundaries were exclusive to them. The first couple were not expected to generate their own resources and opportunities. Or make things happen for themselves in the market. Rather, they were resource managers and co-creators with God. They inherited their paradise as a gift from God, who often visited in the evenings when they rested from the day’s work. The things that make life challenging, such as death, sickness, sorrow, pain, lack, and tears did not exist in this enclave.
There is a unique paradise for each human being. The first couple were ejected from theirs when they disobeyed God. It is possible to return to your paradise when you believe in Jesus Christ, and you return to your first love. Jesus Christ indicated this in His message to the church in Ephesus (Revelation 2:1-7):
“To the angel of the church of Ephesus write, ‘these things says He who holds the seven stars in His right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands: “I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars; and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name’s sake and have not become weary. Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent. But this you have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.”’ (NKJV)
Paradise is a condition of life God gives to people who love Him. It is not only a place you hope to experience when you die. Jesus promised it to people in the Ephesian church while they were alive on earth. And to a condemned criminal hanging on a cross beside Him at the point of death (Luke 23:39-43). This implies we are meant to enjoy it here on earth and in the life to come after death.
