Healthcare in Uncertain Times – the objective of this series is to teach you what to do before and when your personal health falls into uncertain times. The word ‘uncertain’ is an adjective that implies something that cannot be relied on, is unknown or not definite. There are times in our lives when our physical health and wellbeing becomes challenged. Examples of these times include:
- When you are diagnosed with a killer disease (e.g., advanced stage cancer) that threatens your life.
- Your body stops responding to a particular treatment regime, and further options are limited.
- You do not have access to health insurance when sick, and you lack the financial ability to pay for your healthcare needs or those of loved ones.
- Doctors fail to diagnose what really is causing your health issues, despite several tests.
- When doctors do not believe they can be of further help and refer you to hospice care.
These are the times of life in which no healthcare system in the world can help you, no matter how strong its walls. By walls we mean the framework of the healthcare system put in place by countries to support the health of their citizens. This includes the expertise of health personnel, the efficacy of its drugs, the sophistication of medical procedures, technology, and equipment, etc.
The posts in this series teach you how to trust God for your health against the days when the walls of the healthcare system may fail you. Do this by learning from Rahab, the harlot who hid the Israeli spies sent to Jericho. When the strong walls of Jericho surprisingly collapsed, the only wall left standing was that which supported Rahab’s house (Joshua 6). Through trust in God, she saved herself and the lives of all her loved ones. This series also shows how we can collectively access the intervention of God to strengthen our national health systems.
